Test Printing Cactus

Here is the first test print of my black and white cactus lino print. I have spent way too long thinking about this cactus, drawing, re-drawing, and trying to work out what I wanted to do with it. Today I just decided to cut it in black and white and see what it looks like. I’m kind of feeling like I don’t even like it anymore because I’ve been looking at it for too long! I am happy with what I've done today (I think) and I might do a few more cuts to tidy it up, then make a small edition. Or I might leave it on my desk for another 6 months!?

Del Kathryn Barton Inspiration!

I just adore this painting 'and the tears were not yet dry in his beautiful eyes' from Australian artist, Del Kathryn Barton. I visited ACMI last weekend and watch her recent collaboration animation project of Oscar Wilde's 'The Nightingale and The Rose'. It was ornate, colourful, full of pattern and just visually so very beautiful! Sharing Ideas & Skills

This week I visited staff and students at The Melbourne University Graduate School of Education to talk about working with lino printmaking in the classroom and continuing to make art whilst working as a teacher. Fridge Magnet Artworks

The final stage of this Lino project with my very talented Grade 6 class was made today after school. I wanted to give them a little present after all their hard work. I made each student a mini fridge magnet of their hand coloured Lino prints, which I did by scanning in their prints, printed them on glossy photo paper, stuck onto magnet paper, then cut out with scissors. Easy peasy, and I think they are going to LOVE them! #artteacher #artteacherlife #linoprint #australianfood #primaryart #gradesixart #printmaking

Planning Planning!

Planning my next project! I'm not usually this careful with a drawing before I transfer it to the lino, but I'm trying to be better at planning, which will hopefully lead to few frustrations later in the project!
